Born in Cornwall, England, Ysella grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden. She has recently finished a postgraduate degree at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, with pedal harp as principal study, and Caitríona Yeats as her teacher. For her undergraduate degree at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland she studied pedal harp as principal study and clarsach (Scottish lever harp) as her second study, this enriched Ysella's abilities to play many styles of music. Ysella was first introduced to the harp at the age of seven. Ysella has also taken part in a project with Baroque Andrew Lawrence-King in the spring of 2015, acquiring a intruduction to the Baroque triple harp.
Ysella enjoys both solo and orchestral work. She is open to broadening her repertoire and plays contemporary music, both on lever and pedal harp. She played with Copenhagen Phil in the autumn of 2015 and participated in projects with Gothenburg University - MA in Symphonic Orchestra Performance course in spring and summer 2015. These were wonderful opportunities to gain experience in her orchestral playing.
